“Peace is your portion. Accept nothing less.” -Carl Lentz - - - Catching up on Sundays. Today we’re talking the first Sunday of February, when @carllentz from Hillsong New York preached for us at @elevationlkn and all I can say is...whoa. He was amazing. The title of his sermon was “Peace in my Pocket” and I know you’re going to be surprised...but he talked about peace! He talked about the fact that Jesus told us we have His peace. Told us. We have it. Not a question or a suggestion but a statement of Truth from the Truth Himself. Pastor Lentz went on to share this analogy: if you order chocolate lava cake at a restaurant and they bring you a big bowl of kale...what are you going to do? Are you going to eat the kale? Nah. You’re going to say, “I’m sorry, but this is not what I ordered. Bring me a chocolate lava cake.” So why, as Christians, do we order our promised peace, receive anxiety, and respond with, “Such is life.” No. I have the peace of Jesus Christ and I will not accept your replacement anxiety. I will only take the peace that is my portion and was provided by my perfecter.
Thought for the day.
“If you do what you know then you’ll know what to do.” -Steven Furtick - - - I’ve missed three Sundays of sharing moments. And it started on the 27th, for very good reason. On the 27th, I decided to stay home and watch church in my new apartment. Turns out, God knew that sermon was going to get at me in very special ways. We dealt with past mistakes, with a tone of finality; we dealt with current opportunities, with a tone of excitement and faith; and we dealt with the future, with a tone of unknowing. Something that brought me to my current situation in life is the fact that I love to read. I read all those books about chase your own lie down and be your biggest dream and all that stuff and everyone says the exact. Same. Thing. “The first step...is just taking that first step.” Well, my problem was there were 900 different directions I wanted to go in...so which direction do I step into?!? Pastor @stevenfurtick reminded me on this day, that I have the Word of God. I have His words. I already know what to do in many areas of life. And if I do what I know (live justly, love mercy, walk humbly with God, etc.) then that will keep me in step with God...and I’ll know what to do.
Please. Also...my dogs feet look like the Grinch’s hair.
